Really? Since you don’t know anything about me, I’m beyond “pretty sure” you enjoy making shit up to make yourself feel better.

What if the fucking sky was green? I’m talking about things as they are not as they could be so whatifism isn’t really a productive avenue of discussion. We’re not talking about irreversibly crippling someone to get them out of prison we’re talking about performing a pretty innocuous procedure in exchange for less…
It stuns me how dramatic people are being about this, especially on the four-year implant for women. As far as I’m concerned, ALL women should be offered free L-T birth control, and we should start with the poorest people getting the free offers first. (People here would rather give the first freebies to rich people?)
Yep. I had a vasectomy . . . had to take (a little) time off work, and also pay (a little) money out of pocket. These people break the law, go to jail, but are then released early in return for getting the same procedure? The horror.
It’s not coercion because there’s no threat and no intimidation. Nobody’s saying “get snipped or go to jail” they’re saying “you’re going to jail, but if you want a one time shot at spending less time in jail here’s an option”. There is a huge difference there and I can’t (but also can) believe that the ACLU doesn’t…
Sorry, genius, but here’s your original comment that started all this:
So let me get this straight. The article you linked to establishes that the GOP won a state legislature and then gerrymandered the districts.
THE INJUSTICES CONTINUE
But they could not gerrymander at all until they had control of the state, right? This argument fails because all you’re arguing is that, at best, gerrymandering made states that were already red MORE red. Correct?
There is a logical problem with this line:
It’s “logician”, genius. A “logistician” is something completely different.
There’s an excellent book called Ratfucked: The True Story Behind the Secret Plan to Steal America’s Democracy, that goes into some very significant details about the extent to which a number of these states were Gerrymandered. The GOP employed pretty sophisticated map-drawing software in concert with voter data to…
LOL - And I’m willing to bet everything I own they’re happy to take responsibility for gerrymandering. They don’t hide it. It’s done in the open. It’s not a secret. You can go online to any district and pull up the redistricting.
Sorry, but it IS the law. It’s always BEEN the law. The only reason you’re crying about it now is because you’re not the one doing it.
So - the GOP won the district without the need to gerrymander but the whole purpose in winning the district was to gerrymander, even though they won the state anyway?
No, it’s classic circular reasoning. We can go through this step-by-step.
I agree with you: both parties are equally effective at Gerrymandering. However, I don’t believe the GOP is burdened by things like “morality” or thinks about how far is “too far”.
By definition, gerrymandering is “localized”. Since the GOP owns most state houses, they engage in gerrymandering more frequently.
Both sides are equally adept at gerrymandering. They use the same methods to do it.
She got three million more votes than the Goniff in Chief. The problem is she didn’t get votes where she needed them.
