No, it’s not. The Diversity Visa program is essentially a lottery and doesn’t take merit into consideration at all. They’re selected at random as explained here:

It isn’t. First preference goes to family members regardless of skill.

And you object to that? We should open the doors to them and let them in.

If we only have a certain number of visas to give out, and some of them are based solely on diversity, then not all of them are being used for merit and “people with skills” aren’t bumped to the head of the diversity line.

I don’t know. But if we need, say, computer engineers, why not bump those that have experience in that field to the top of the line?

If someone had PTSD and tried to enlist, they would not be accepted.

Do you know the symptoms associated with gender dysphoria? I gave you credit for knowing that, but perhaps that was too generous on my part.

No, you’re being dishonest again.

I’ve answered your question at least twice. Having gender dysphoria disqualifies you from serving. It always has. You don’t like but don’t pretend I didn’t tell you.

Physical symptoms are different from mental ones - depression, social anxiety, uncomfortable with your genitalia, etc. - define gender dysphoria.

No. I can easily point to examples of trans soldiers that did not manage to serve without incident. Would that change your opinion?

No, if you’re trans by definition you suffer from gender dysphoria. It’s not a question that they “might” experience it; they do. None of the symptoms that accompany that condition are good for you and any one of them by themselves would probably get you bounced.

So you’re just going to pretend that all the symptoms that accompany gender dysphoria are good qualities for a soldier to have? Since when? What evidence do you have that gender dysphoria helps soldiers perform their tasks more efficiently or better?

Yes, if you’ve been court-martialed for being a traitor, I’m not a fan. I already told you that once.

I’m sure you’re aware of the symptoms that accompany sexual dysphoria, right?

You don’t get to decide what is a “valid” reason - the military does. It establishes its basic requirements to enlist. If you’re trans, by definition you have gender dysphoria, correct? If you have that particular condition, you’re unfit to serve and always have been.

The two go hand-in-hand. If they weren’t trans, they wouldn’t need the surgery to begin with, right? There’s a definite connection between the two that, to me, is as obvious as anything can possibly be.

People are deemed physically and/or mentally unfit and kicked out of the military all the time.

That is a valid reason. The military does not accept obese recruits; it does not accept people that are blind; it does not accept people that are mentally unfit; it does not accept people that cannot meet the minimum requirements on the initial service exam.
