Me, procrastinating and not going to bed when I should: “Kelly Rowland got into a fight with Usher at Cannes?!”

Now playing

I don’t watch every episode in full, but I liked Molly Kearney’s bit as TN Lt. Gov. Randy McNally.

Someone who works an office job here: I might throw a dinner roll at my boss if they made inappropriate comments about my body, though personally I’d love to have an excuse to throw a glass of water in the face of someone who deserves it

Seems like an intense actor-y thing where the experience of pretending to be in a post-apocalyptic wasteland fighting for survival was immersive enough that it was messing with her head and mood.

Hey now, I know you’re just using “Silicon Valley” to mean “the tech industry,” but as someone who lives in the area but doesn’t work in tech, it *is* region that also contains artists and creatives.

Agreed, I’d like to think there is an underling that got shot down who is now smirking to themselves about how much shit Apple is getting for this.

What lorem ipsum said, and also it goes with Kendrick saying Drake’s crew is full of predators too.

“And you have small feet! Pbbbt!”

That’s why I thought this feud was kinda unnecessary in the first place—they’re occupying different niches with some overlap but not a lot. Felt like Kendrick responding was acknowledging they are on the same level to a degree, but I guess he couldn’t let Drake’s disses go unanswered and the animosity between them is

I know people have different metrics of what makes the greatest rapper, but it’s pretty apparent who is the better writer when you see their lyrics written out side by side in articles like these. Drake’s just read so simple and corny in comparison to Kendrick’s.

I’m not super well versed in films of that period, but I feel like Boyer’s more naturalistic performance (rather than a stagey dramatic one) is also what makes it still work today. His manipulation is done so skillfully, it’s infuriating, and yeah, very similar to the dv stories I’ve heard. It was painfully believable

Still made my browser crash a few times reading on mobile, but at least I could jump back to where I was (and the comments) fairly easily.

If anyone was unaware, the original Alien is currently playing in theaters for its 45th(!!) anniversary. Caught it this weekend and it looked and sounded amazing in the theater. It also started with Fede Alvarez interviewing Ridley Scott about the making of the movie and showed some glimpses of Alien: Romulus.

Funny, the way you feel about Abigail is how I feel about M3gan—they could have gone much further with that premise. A large part of it is probably the PG-13 rating, but I think they could have played more with the uncanny valley aspect of this lifelike doll, which would up the creep factor while staying below R.

They’re not breaking any new ground but were entertaining enough without hitting the lowest lows of other long running horror franchises. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I didn’t think the dad showing up was even meant to be a reveal, just a “you thought the hero was free, but another big bad appears!” moment.

Yeah, there’s been plenty of good movies that have bombed because of bad marketing where what people got was not what they were expecting and they were the wrong crowd for it. Also good point, any seasoned horror/mystery fan would call that the girl is somehow involved very early on even if that weren’t revealed in

Eh, I still had a good time. I knew she was a vampire going in, but it was entertaining to see the characters figure it out. I was also still wondering how she was able to get out her restraints and sneak in and out of her room to kill people before the big reveal, though I think they could’ve played more with that

I’ve seen it and I agree. It would’ve been more fun not knowing that she was a vampire, but it’s the hook—I don’t know that I would’ve sought out the movie otherwise. Though maybe they could’ve packaged it as slasher-thriller and drawn people in that way.

I recommend You’re Next if you haven’t seen it before. It’s basically Home Alone as a slasher, but it is multiple adults in an isolated mansion so not literally Home Alone. I enjoyed it much more than Better Watch Out, which had a fun story but whose characters I found extremely irritating.
