I don't know, man…..

I realize this is AV Club, and as such, criticism of pop culture, good or bad, will be found.

Kings and Queen, Home Tonight, Round and Round, Rats In the Cellar….

Well, then, I'm glad I watch a lot of bad TV.

The internet hates Billy Joel? His hits are overplayed, but I wasn't aware of this hatred. Burn out, yes. Hatred? Like a lot of different artists, ther are songs of his I love, and others where I just wince, and alot in between that varies.

I could listen to "Beautiful Loser" all day long.

I concur on this idea of these being all low hanging fruit.

Well, it would have been a teenaged Meatloaf, so surely we're talking not the 70's, but the late 60's. Plenty of old school Detroit land yachts were around with room to spare inside.

I am agreeing with everything you say here.

Todd Rudgren is ridiculous on guitar on that track. Its better than this song, just not as well known, and certainly never played on radio.

Which would be awesome, by the way….

Not a single Haddaway reference?

^ this. I was going to make a snarky joke, but then I did what you asked.

To be fair, Rockwell was estranged from Berry at the time, as was living with his stepfather.

That Commodores song is probably the best thing on there, although this isn't as terrible as one would expect. I always liked that Springsteen song more than say, Dancin In The Dark or Glory Days. Was that Diana Ross' last big hit?

You know, upon research, he did Diet Pepsi…..Aretha Franklin did Coke in the 80s.

^well, i know what vinyl I'm digging out today……..

Come on, clearly it was Jermaine Jackson's barely there backing vocals that made it a hit….right? Right?

I'm pretty sure my local station was playing the full, or some sort of longer version. I have a distinct memory of one of the countdown shows on Sundays (Rick Dees or Casey Kasem) playing the radio edit, and going…..what? Now, I doubt they played the full version for its entire chart run, but they did at some

It introduced me to Ray Charles, who was only a name, not a voice to a 9 year old kid.
