The struggle is real.. saw this going around on FB but I used a tweet so I can embed this:
Well today has already been off to a good start.
Add your own etc :)
So I applied for an inter-company talent promotion thing a few months ago.. and I got in! WOO! I did not expect that. The brief actually sounded a lot like Peggy in Fargo, trying to ~actualize~ and I am not quite sure what will await me, apart from networking and stuff. However, this brings me to the main issue:
I just came across this gem and couldn’t not post it (I have no idea if the usual TB is a weekly roundup or not.. ? sorry!).
Parts of my city currently look like something from the purge and my anxiety is through the roof. I have the day off so thankfully I did not have to trek through the city. I am all for peaceful demonstration but this is just violence. Please, distract me. OT as you wish.
I am really excited about this year’s Hugo finals, Ninefox Gambit was one of my favourite books last year and I just bought The Geek Feminist Revolution & Too Like The Lightning. I also purchased A Closed and Common Orbit two weeks ago. I read The Three Body Problem two years ago and felt it went a bit over my head…
I came across this NYT article “Tracking the President’s Visits to Trump Properties” and noticed this delightful editors note at the end:
It’s not even 9 AM and I am already angry crying at my desk. Awesome.
Get married & take your husbands name, they said. It will be fun, they said.
Help me, Obi Wan GT, you’re my only hope..
So remember that thing I posted about a month ago that caused me FUCKTONS of anxiety and an existential crisis?
Hello GT! I am excited because my sister is going to visit me for the first time in months and we are going to have home-made pizza (spicy tomato base, thinly sliced zucchini + tomatoes topped with thyme and feta) plus a Marvel moviethon tonight, all while capriciaMAN is out with some friends. I still want to make/buy…
EDIT A big thank you to everybody who commented. Your support and non-judgemental, kind words really touched me and made me feel more calm. <3
My dad is at retirement age but still working. Or rather he still has to work due to various financial reasons. He is in the oil and gas industry and has been unemployed, employed, freelance, out of work, employed again but only part-time.. etc ever since I can remember (this is reason for my financial anxiety btw).
After labouring under the misapprehension that my family’s traditional green thumb had passed me by I suddenly went full-on crazy plant lady and bought six plants for my balcony today.
I just read the Gawker article on Beau Biden’s passing aaaaaand then my boyfriend walks into the rooms and tells me that his BIL is in hospital. He has got migraines and loss of memory (he did not know what month it was and did not know the name for a belt) and now they are keeping him for a few days to run some more…
My favourite cinema occasionally shows fan favourites (so far this year: Alien, Pulp Fiction, The Big Lebowski..) and they are going to show The Matrix in April. Woo! Went to pre-order tickets online and noticed that the description read "Directors: The Wachowski Brothers". I dropped the cinema a message on FB asking…
Hello everybody, I need a bit of advice here. My work bestie is pregnant with her first kid and is going on maternity leave at the end of November. She has planned a baby shower sometime during the first half of December and her birthday is right before Christmas. Her due date is at the beginning of January.
