This is genocide.
This is genocide.
Yep. This is no different than the wholesale execution of people of a particular race. Why, they’re practically being dragged from their homes and shot in the head! Genocide is the only possible word that can be used to describe people being denied camping supplies while breaking the law.
Wait, how is this genocide?
peacefully creating confrontation? That is where you lose me. They should have been dealing with this long before it got to this point. Now it is show boating for attention and steam rolling a project that is 95% done and paid for. This protest is ruining peoples lives all around that project, and hasn’t been done…
...how is this genocide?
I don’t think you know what genocide means.
Settle down. They’re refusing to sell them supplies, not giving them free blankets.
All you hysterical folks do realize that many women even in Europe are forced into wearing these garments by male figures right? It’s not a choice at all.
unfortunately, Jezebelians are idiots so they need clarity - when the PLO invaded and destroyed Lebanon, many of the PLO leadership, including Arafat himself escaped by hiding under - wait for it... a Burka. In Muslim countries, terrorists hide under...wait for it, Burkas to cause havoc and are also banning them - but…
New York City also has a face covering ban - it’s meant to keep the KKK from walking anonymously, but since Islam (and other religions) share so much with the KKK philosophically, it seems to be a good law.
The post was about the public ban on burqas in the Netherlands. That Wilders agrees with this doesn’t make it wrong. If Wilders were in favor of a better public school system, would you be against it out of principle?
I don’t fucking care about political correctness. Burqas are dehumanizing and no one living in an arid desert would wear a black face mask by choice which leads me to believe that very few women wear burqas by choice.
“a problem that doesn’t really exist.”
The goal here is less to do with assimilation (short-term anyway) and more to do with making Muslims less welcome in Netherlands, which may be no bad thing. Don’t forget that Netherlands is the country where the Muslims feel so comfortable that Ayaan Hirsi Ali had to flee to US from all the death threats she received…
In 2010, Syria banned full-face veils at universities because it believed it ran counter to its academic and secular principals. Some other Muslim-majority countries have similar bans because they believe such coverings are a sign of political Islam, fundamentalism or Salafist political activism. Maaaybe we should…
This is simply not true. I work in Philadelphia, and see multiple women every day in the niqab or abaya. I think many of them belong to fringe Nation of Islam-esque groups.
Posters on this site claim to be so open minded, yet the notion that there should be a ban on niqabs is somehow only anti-islamist. I’m in no way anti-islamist, but I’m actually for liberal values. These women cannot find equal employment and are isolated from anyone who they don’t already know in their own community.…
The burkha - an explicitly patriarchal attempt to equate piety with the total invisibility of women - is a perfect symbol for the bigotry and intolerance the Dutch find so antithetical to their values. Good fucking riddance.
The ban on burqas and niqabs is not based on a right wing view. The overwhelming majority in any European country agrees on it. It’s not even about the oppression of muslim women by being forced to adhere to radical islamic rules or a desire to police women’s clothing (whatever your preferred narrative may be). It’s…
