It means that it’s rare to find a politician who is willing to risk losing power by sticking their neck out for their constituents. Most will wait until legislature has passed/failed then say they were for/against it the entire time.

Trump won Manchin’s state by 42 points in 2016 and 39 points. And yet Manchin voted on two separate occasions, in 2020 and again 2021, to convict him. There is obviously something that can convince Manchin to act against his own political/electoral interests.

To your point...they could technically do it. It would be the last thing Joe does as a Senator (Sinema is probably done for regardless) but they could do it. That being said, I don’t think either one of them have much as far as scruples, so they’ll be rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic as needed.

There aren’t enough votes in the Senate to eliminate the filibuster or pack the court even if Biden wanted to. Neither Sinema nor Manchin would support those actions, and Dem leadership has no way to force them into doing so.

The best way to fight this is to find out who are the PACS supporting these politicians and doxing them to find out the companies they own.
