i worked night shift on the crew that blurred out the bits on the XL show. it’s amazing how pedestrian the nudity is when it’s uncensored. it’s almost like the matrices make it more titillating than it actually is.  people doing things naked is actually quite unsexy and totally boring lol.

I’m a bit shocked how cowardly the Supreme Court has been on this. I guess it’s good they didn’t outright overturn Roe V. Wade, they didn’t want to go down that rabbit hole, but it undermines their authority by choosing to do nothing at all.

I’ve found out some RW family members of mine have indeed had abortions or their partners have one. But they still parrot the party line on it. It’s like they don’t even really believe it, it’s just the team they’ve decided to root for.

These kinda shows remind me of the old joke,

Just fuck off Texas.  Just fuck the fuck off.

But Hilary just didn’t INSPIRE me.

Don’t let “pro-lifers” fool you. Plenty of them obtain abortions, then seek to whitewash their image while denying others the choice they allowed themselves.

Because Biden doesn’t really care much about abortion rights. He flip flopped on it during the 2020 primary as a matter of political convenience, not because he suddenly changed his mind about a core moral issue in his late-70s.”

This is just not true. I vividly remember during the VP debate against . . . Paul Ryan,

Biden is overwhelmingly, aggressively committed to doing as little as possible as president.

I know political commentary around here never really takes in the big picture any more, and I agree this is disappointing, but there are a couple of things not quite right here.

As someone who grew up somewhat financially insecure - never heard a worry about losing the house or anything, but definitely remember some bills not being paid on time - the fact that someone who doesn’t have enough money to leave a state could POSSIBLY be expected to raise a fucking child is a terrifying indictment

Invite the Russians to hack Texas. I hear that’s allowed.

If abortion is murder then the fine for murder is $10k. Gonna make that the standard sentencing across the board?

Pictures of Shrek are funny, but ineffective because they’re easily weeded out. What you need is to fill the database with the names of everyone who lives in Texas. Start with Aaron Aaronson and don’t stop until you reach Zoe Zuzz.

I had the same thought. I’m not an attorney, but from what I’ve seen, the standing issue seems to be this law’s fatal flaw and how it’s going to be challenged.

I think it’s actually the other way around that’s the problem.  A plaintiff in this case wouldn’t be able to proceed with a case against Texas as Texas isn’t the one enforcing the policy and there’s no state punishment being meted out.  Texas basically did an end around on the constitution.  A constitutional lawyer

As I understand it, no form of birth control is 100% effective, except (I would assume) something like a tubal ligation or hysterectomy—i.e., actual sterilization. And I guess abstinence (but obviously that’s not an option for sex workers whose job involves sexual intercourse.)

This may be an unpopular opinion but many of my Pro-life friends seem to be more Pro-birth instead of pro-life. Many arguments fall in the scope of “don’t do the deed if you can’t live with the consequences” which is woefully lacking in empathy IMO.  They just care that the mother gets their perceived “come-uppance”

I’m glad everything went well for you. I had an abortion at 8 weeks pregnant at an Austin clinic in 1999 when I lived there. It was easy-peasy, with no complications and no protesters, thankfully. I was in graduate school and there’s no way I would have been able to travel out of state. My heart breaks for everyone

I think he spoke fairly clearly. As long as we can keep our elections secure from non-white voters, he sees no need for violence.  If we keep allowing non-whites to vote, on the other hand...
