There’s a program in WV called WIC (Women, Infants, and Children) that strictly limits what you can get (I.e. 1 18 oz. Container of peanut butter) and I think that something like that could be expanded to include those on welfare that have children who are still developing. When I worked at a grocery store near a…
Taxpayers have a right to question the use of money that is taken from the fruit of their labor. Further, as taxpayers are funding programs from the money that is taken from them, they have a vested interest in making sure said programs and money are being used responsibly. If a person who receives government aid in…
As someone in public health, I think food stamps need more regulation. I honestly like the setup of WIC because you can only buy fruit, vegetables, milk, grains, beans, proteins, and nut butters. The stuff that is more expensive. Tons of people on food stamps buy soda and junk food because it's cheap and calorie-dense…
And yet it’s the “nanny state” when democrats like Michelle Obama want to remove oreos and doritos from school vending machines.
I have a standard off-registry gift that I give to everyone:
I had an interesting idea about wedding gifts recently. So many people are now getting married so late that they’ve kind of already set up a house. They have dishes, they have a wok, they have cups. So they end up not having a registry, or doing one of those ‘please donate towards our honeymoon’ or ‘cash plz’ things.…
I’m seeing so much hate for buying off registry.
We’re not even married yet, and I’m so touched by the engagement presents. Since we don’t have a registry yet, they’re all “off registry.” We’ve gotten some amazing, heartfelt things, like a set of yellow teacups that I just stare and stare at. And stack-able cups that…
Worst Wedding Gift Ever: Anything that isn’t cash.
I’m sure it’s very easy to access an abortion in Utah. In fact, I’m certain the Mormon church makes that readily available.
Wow, wow. There is so much misinformation in this thread about henna. It is NOT a carcinogen, what the hell. And if you are using PURE henna, you can dye over it, it will not damage your hair. Henna is suppose to condition your hair, not make it shitty.
henna is wonderful, easy to use, and naturally conditioning. It can't lighten, but that doesn't matter in your case. I strongly recommend checking henna out. I've used it to redden my hair and my sister uses it to cover grays very effectively.
So I have heard. That word is absurd and I shall not apologize for not having heard of it.
Well I guess that answers the question "who listens to this crap???"
Also, for a lot of moms, it takes about two years or so to feel like themselves again, physically and in all other respects. After enough time, many women might simply want their bodies back and not go through that childbearing and early childrearing again. (For the record, let's just all agree here that it's not…
My wife and I originally wanted two children. My wife had a difficult pregnancy (baby's fine and healthy), but the medical issues that came up made it very clear this is our one and only child unless we adopt. Even some of the people that know the whole story are still trying to convince us to have additional…
I'll tell you why more men than women want to have kids – they don't have to be pregnant, have their bodies change beyond belief in some cases, go through labor, have people comment throughout your pregnancy and after you give birth about your weight gain/lack of weight gain, breastfeed, deal with pumping at work, the…
It would help if we didn't make it insanely expensive to raise a child who might be economically independent in the future, but hey, fuck universal healthcare, amirite?
I'm really suspicious of all these straight men trying to pressure their partners into having children. It must be really easy for them when they're not going to suffer any of the downsides of having children.
