My big fear with IoT is that it will no longer be supported. Great that I can get a fridge with a monitor on it that ties into my phone to let me know what I am out of. In 3 years, the fridge manufacturer decides to shutdown the server and I’m left with some that loses functionality that I paid for.

The scale of these things is unreal.

Additionally, most of the stocks being traded are only being held for a fraction of a second. High speed trading isn’t investing. It’s gambling. Our retirement fund is what they are gambling on. The value of a company doesn’t change over 10 milliseconds, but the stock price does.

Train drivers already have this. Every 3 to 15 minutes a light goes off on the dash. After 30 seconds, an alarm sounds. 30 seconds after the alarm starts sounding, the train goes into brake mode.

Depends. How much are they making now? Should the fact that they are in a depressed area mean that they shouldn’t make what the job deserves? What are the other benefits? How much comes off your paycheck to pay for the benefits?
