Some of these are not good ideas. Light up seat belt buckles? Who is looking at the buckle? You feel for it, click it in, tug test and go. Funnels on washer fluid reservoirs? Just make the filler opening larger, it doesn’t have to neck down.
That’s a big maybe. Tesla doesn’t have a good track record of meeting promises.
Torque shouldn’t matter to those reading Ford’s numbers and comparing competing trucks. A low torque F1 engine could theoretically tow just as well with the proper transmission.
I think we’re saying the same thing. I agree with everything you just stated. The horsepower curve dictates basically everything that the engine is capable of. The torque curve does too, indirectly, but I don’t believe the average reader here understands how.
You’re right, but that’s a pretty advanced concept for Jalopnik kinja. Dumbing it down, peak horsepower numbers mean little and peak torque numbers mean almost nothing. The total horsepower curve and the area under it is what you want. Judging by the other responses to my comment, the community here bought the…
Ummm, as a mechanical engineer, I understand exactly how power and torque work. It’s the community majority that have such a hard time figuring it out. Even the journalists on this site and most others don’t seem to fully grasp the concept. If you want to learn some and figure it yourself, this isn’t the place to do…
Peterbilt is fully aware of this - that’s why they have so many gears in a transmission. Peak wheel torque is generated at peak horsepower and a diesel has a narrow power band and usually a much flatter torque band. It’s not black magic.
You basically reiterated my point. High lower end torque yields higher horsepower at the low RPMs. It’s the horsepower that you’re looking to generate since a gearset does not change horsepower.
Torque is only important if it wasn’t mated to a gearbox. Since it’s always coupled to a transmission, you can make it whatever output torque you want. What matters is horsepower.
America is burning. The rest of the world is doing ok. Not great, but better.
Agreed, the underground work and electrical distribution system upgrade would be hella expensive. Although it looks nice, I like the option of a steel bollard with a plug rather than this because it will just work. Couple that with user owned steel-braided charge cables with locking plugs and I don’t see an issue.…
But what does this have to do with COVID-19?
Edit. Kinja'd
They should’ve called it a mustang.
The link to the article that explained the manufacturer comment was copied in your comment. It’s not just a Jalopnik opinion.
Pretty sure this is what they mean by timeless style.
I know, right? Just build used cars ffs.
Cons definitely seem to outweigh the pros. Lack of grip and stability is a hell of a con.
