As a female engineering alumni of UVa, it bothered me a lot that a Computer Science professor was chosen (no idea how these things were assigned), someone on campus with less interaction with female students (granted I graduated many years ago, but the engineering school was about 15-20% female) and that he thought

I could barely finish reading the story after that part. I can NOT imagine anyone telling this woman anything except, "it is going to be difficult, but we need to prosecute those assholes"

As an alum who lives in town and spent my undergrad pretty far removed from the Greek scene, I am pleased to hear that there are students ready to stand up and demand better treatment of rape victims.

I am surprised that this first response to this article. Two things that have changed since I was a kid are the recommendations from professionals on how to help make your child less likely to become victim to a sexual predator (I will note that there may be differences for autistic children that I am not aware of):

This was also the BASIC I learned in the 1980s, but I do remember the meeting in the ladies room song.

I have to agree, that I would hope there is an emphasis on maternity/paternity leave and better support for working parents, rather than, "work now, kids later". In any event, these are not benefits that are likely to become widespread. I also worry that benefits that favor women, make companies *less* likely to hire

Congrats on your new baby. As a mom who did a ton of prepping, researching and reading birth stories online, it is funny to look back on and realize, no one will ever ask or care about "birth stories" once your first born is over 1 yr of age.

My husband was driving the kids to school and was cut off and yelled "bitch" Our son immediately started repeating it and my husband goes "No, no, I said Betty. She's a Betty" The next time he got cut off in traffic again, my son asked "Was that Betty again?"

My child (around age 4) started abusing "actually" in a similar manner and I had was forced to admit my own over-usage.

I somehow thought it was new slang for a vagina.

Wait. Since when is it legal to hunt in a National Park?

In California, you have to disclose if anyone died in the house to a potential buyer. No idea if that carries over to rental tenants but I recall thinking that was bizarre when buying a condo there. I can't imagine if a new england state had that law, "well in 1809, we believe Grandma Smith died in the attic, then in

Going through and reading this thread makes me a bit sad. I hate the whole working moms vs SaHM/D wars taking place all over the internet. Different things work for different families, and no two family units are exactly alike. I work part-time and my husband is full-time. We make it to the activities we can and don't

What did you select when it asked for your cable company? I couldn't get through the start screen without that information.
