When the annual fee hits, call in, and ask to get it waived. Mention that you’re a long time customer and you’d like to keep the relationship going. You can usually get the fee waived or at least halved. Citi this year waived the fee on my AAdvantage card if I spent $95. If you really can't get the fee waived, ask for

What I’ve realized lately is that sometimes, to save money in the long run, you’d need to cough up money up front, which goes completely against the “save money” mentality. E.g. If you fly at least twice a year, it’s worth paying the $95 annual fee on a airline CC that gives you a free checked bag. Walking through

In flight entertainment is next to useless. I always just bring a book

A HUGE downside to the Costco card is that it doesn’t have travel delay/cancellation protection. If you don’t travel much much, then that’s ok. But otherwise I’d stick with the CSP for travel purchases, which gives 2.5% back on travel if the reward is spent on more travel.

The googly eyes totally makes it.

Yep. That’s how comet flyby probes work.

With everyone pointing out the obvious radio, I think the bigger problem is the SNR. Sure, we can get signals from voyager, but voyager is transmitting with a 12-ft high gain antenna, and the power available to voyager is in the hundreds of watts. I don’t see current technology being able to miniaturize that right

OneDrive used to be great with Windows 8 and placeholder shadow files. That’s what set it apart from the other cloud storage desktop programs. The ability to selectively store individual files offline while still seeing everything in the folder is amazing. In Windows 10 it just became another run of the mill folder

Unlike most people, I embraced Win8, and it runs much faster than Win7. The start screen is so much more eye-pleasing than the old menu.

I’ve never seen/heard of any of these cards. What’s an example of one? (I know the Amex charge cards have no limit, but they’re charge cards)

I live in Berkeley and work in SF, and the Super Bowl has already doubled my commute.

well kinja posted the same deal yesterday and I was seeing 26 yesterday, so I thought it sold out. But they posted the deal again today.

How are you getting the $13 price on the pyrex dishes? I’m seeing $23.60

The key with the knife is that you want a blade that is not as wide as the cork (like small multitool knifes - I personally use this one), so you actually fully insert the blade into the cork, with the back of the blade pointing counterclockwise. Then while holding the cork still with the knife, you twist the bottle

Are there conversions for the metric amounts? I’m all for the metric system but when literally every measuring implement is in cups and fractions thereof, it’ll be much easier in imperial units.
