I interpreted "about" as "nearly" and not as the preposition, so the grammar is fine.

This equation is not explicit, in which one variable can be stated as a function of the other. Explicit equations of y in terms of x cannot have to y-vals per x-val, but implicit equations can. A simple example is x^2+y^2=1, the unit circle.

Confirmed. There are four lines running through it, but I believe it to be an artifact from using the zeros() function of the nSpire CAS. The OS does not have an implicit graphing tool, so I had to use the zeros function.
