Yeah, you're right. I just haven't researched enough to make a powerful conclusion and I don't think the author has either. But the discussion has to start somewhere.

I do agree that it takes a whole lot of hubris to do something like this, and it would be easier for a privileged person to do this. However, I still think that the author presented this more as something to discuss and examine, rather than totally expressing the killer's privilege as a cause.
I'm sorry, I don't think I understand your comment. Do you mean to say that I assume that everyone else feels entitled?
It might certainly makes things easier. I just don't think it will happen, especially because people who do not have "white privilege" won't ever identify as white even if it's in their bloodlines.
I was thinking more along the lines of, white privilege doesn't make someone not want to follow laws, it just makes it easier for them to break the law. Also, I want to believe that if he was Muslim it would at least have come into question the way it has for the Fort Hood murderer, but we won't ever know, because…
Not really. White privilege is not only how the world treats you, it is also very internalized. And I grew up in a small town full of other Hispanics, so I never felt the confidence that "real" white people have.
The author isn't saying that he committed mass murder because he was privileged. He is pointing out that when a minority commits mass murder it is always attributed to his social status at least in part, while it doesn't occur to people to attribute a white man's crime to his privilege.
Seconded. There will be quite a few either being defensive because they "really don't have any privilege" or angry because we're pointing their entitlement out in the first place.
While I do agree that he doesn't care about following laws, I think that this has more to do with him wanting to murder someone than being privileged. I do agree that he probably had an easier time acquiring so many weapons than a person without white privilege would though.
I don't think being "caucasian" means anything. My race is caucasian and my skin is light, but since I am also of Hispanic ethnicity I still do not have white privilege. Also known as feeling entitled.
Eh. I don't ever agree with people about someone else "busting up" their relationship. Obviously Kanye didn't care enough to be faithful or put an end to Kim's behavior, so I can't hold Kim as the only one responsible here.
I think exactly the same thing!
I thought it was her butt. No? Okay, then.
This guy is an embarrassment to God and to Texas. Why oh why do we have so many idiots???
You mean we are just being selfish? Maybe. Mostly I'm ok with pictures of marriages, babies, and such. I just don't like it when there's this underlying smugness, like there's absolutely nothing better than being with a man or being a mother. Those type of friends I just tend to ignore though.
Idk, I really like looking of pictures when my friends are traveling. But yeah, other than that not much else is interesting.
I'll just leave this here.
But the thing is, she doesn't have an unconventional face. She has conventionally beautiful features. They are just large and therefore need a larger frame. She still looks beautiful, but I think longer hair does enhance her looks more.
Well, I like Lana del Rey but I don't like this. Both songs are good enough on their own. Then again I don't really like mashups...
Um, I think beating up a woman is still way heavier on a scale than "disrespecting". Just saying.
