I agree, and unfortunately many young Republicans ideas of what it is to be a conservative seem to be largely informed by the fringe elements on social media and certain websites. Conservative or right-wing should not equal racist and intolerant but to many it does.

They’re not conservative. They’re centrists, and being a centrist is not cool.

That’s a problem with modern politics. It’s all or nothing. Us (the good ones) vs. them (the evil ones). The more the left attacks Trump, the more fervent the Republicans’ support of him. The right and the left have gone farther away from the center than they have in a long time.
