The difference is you don’t want those guys. The men want the women, but can’t have them.

I’m 5'9" and hate hate HATE it when I heard other women say they won’t date anyone under 6'. I’m taller than probably 50% of guys on dating apps, and I don’t let that bother me. As long as he’s not an asshole about it (because growing up, most short boys tend to be dicks to cover their insecurity), I don’t care.

This is exactly the issue, but throw in that every guy thinks they are owed Jennifer Aniston (not EVERY, but close enough). So they see no irony in being a 5'6" software consultant with no personality, demanding that any woman who they date be a Victoria secret model.

Every article now on G/O reads like they were written by an A.I. that only got fed data from Twitter.

I was very surprised they didn’t at least link that article, given that it’s easily one of the best pieces of writing ever published on the site.

Short kings exist aplenty in the world of riches and privilege. But some lesser known tech bros, finance guys, actors, and wealthy soft bois are going to extreme lengths to leave their short king status behind for the new shiny mantle of…slightly taller king.

Two sides of the same peculiar form of identity displacement?

I don’t get all the fucking anguish, crying, and other performative shite royalists and others are undertaking out of the delusion they had a personal connection to some 96 year old woman they didn’t know but likewise I also really don’t get people passionately and ecstatically celebrating her death as though said 96

It’s almost like the corporate values in our for-profit medical system are at odds with good outcomes.

Hospitals are not closing for the Queen’s funeral. Emergency services are still operating, intensive care is still operating, babies are being born and the bedridden being cared for. Some appointments got rescheduled.

Some irish thoughts about the monarchy:

Britney is not well. I can’t clearly state my thoughts on this. Between the reporting on her and Kanye, I’m exhausted.

Yes.

This is a horrible story. One sort of kind of silver lining - a GoFundMe established to pay her restitution and tuition raised almost $200K in one day:

I had been in a similar situation. I had no control of the mental health treatment I received and it left bitter and angry. It was only when my mom died (who had been the one forcing me into treatment) that I realized not only did I need help, but now no one was around to do it for me. So I made a call to a therapist,

exactly why the previous conservatorship screwed her so badly. She rightly has distrust of anyone trying to help her.

Unfortunately, she's made it clear that she doesn't think there's anything wrong with her. She's perfect and everyone else is the problem. I hope with more time, she'll make the choice to work on herself, but I'm not holding my breath

I think you’re right-on.  It’s pretty obvious her mental health is not in a good place (and how could it be?) but left unchecked this will only get worse.

Maybe unpopular, but 2 things can be true:

Right! She’s outperformed by everyone, including the step daughter, the guest stars, the cats... For a minute I thought I was crazy but then I’d see another episode and like..... nope she’s definitely pulling the most average and unremarkable performance on the show lol. Maybe the bar for her was super low that the
