Oh my god thank you. And then people wonder why it’s so easy for conservatives and populists to turn public opinion against progressives. Let’s start with the fucking obnoxious progressive-speak. Insufferable and completely alienating, and as far removed from the realities of the people they’re purporting to care

I get your point, trust me. By the same token, not everyone who can move has thought to do it, or thinks it’s possible, and maybe they just need a nudge in the right direction? I have cousins in my country who could emigrate, who are professionals and speak English and make a life for themselves. But they don’t want

What’s wrong with giving advice that leaves some people out? Like I said, I take issue with this idea that the only valid advice is the kind that’s universal. This is what you’re not getting.

It’s not a solution to the overall problem, and it’s not an option for some people. But it definitely is an option for some people and it’s ok to say so. Just because something doesn’t work for everyone doesn’t mean you can’t say it. That’s what I mean by black and white thinking.

This.

No, the point is you’re seeing it in black and white like whoever wrote the original article. It’s ok to tell those who can, to leave. It sucks that not everyone can leave, and I hope people will get organized and try to do something about that to help people who do want to leave.

Exactly. This is the most disingenuous nonsense I’ve ever heard in my life. She really does think everyone’s an idiot, but her.

If this doesn’t get under 30's to vote, nothing will...

I get your point and I think there should be collective action and fundraising aimed at helping people move and get out.

Sorry but I think this blog’s point that telling people to get out is always wrong, is dumb. And it’s not like people don’t realize not everyone in these places is bad. But sometimes, that’s not enough. Sometimes getting out is the best thing you can do for yourself and your family.

I know that. I’m from a very conservative, Catholic country in Latin America that still has some incredibly repressive laws on the books.

I guess I’m not as paranoid/conspiratorial. Not all attention is good attention...

Pretty much every life coach and yoga teacher on instagram might have gotten there after some sort of crisis but most of them support that lifestyle by having also married someone far wealthier than them.

Except it wasn’t that strict of a theme. The exhibit itself opens with a suit worn by I forget which Bush president, one worn by I think Lincoln and a garment worn by an enslaved person, and the exhibit features dresses from the 50s, 60s, 70s in addition to what is classically understood as the Gilded Age.

The majority supports abortion. Republicans and religious fanatics don’t give a shit about that.

They never had the numbers for that in Congress but I agree with you about who to blame, but I extend that not just to Democratic politicians but also voters. I don’t blame Republicans because I expect nothing less than this from them. But I expect more from Democrats and progressives and fucking under 30s who won’t

Came here to say this. Hope all the Bernie bros and anti-Hilary democrats are happy.

I’m not gonna lie, I laughed but I have a very dark and inappropriate sense of humor.

I mean, what else is there to say?
