I like watching Chopped because it's a great reminder of how well-trained chefs actually are. I'm a decent home cook, but give me four random ingredients and 20 minutes to make an appetizer, and you're going to get a plate of lettuce with four random ingredients on top.

Yeah, I was moderately active on the TrekBBS when Firefly premièred, and it got a ton of buzz there.

Even shows with big budgets fall victim to this. Watch Star Trek from TNG on for long enough, and you get pretty damn familiar with their cave set.
