Honda builds the Crosstourer (as the VFR1200X is known elsewhere) for aging riders wanting more comfort than the Interceptor offers. Comfort is what it’s for. Lewis Medlock should try it out, he may like it.

My preferred explanation is that he was saving his tyres and managing the gap up to Lorenzo, forcing him to push (and possibly burn up his rubber) building a gap that Marquez knew he could close up at any time. A late-race pass on a fatigued opponent riding on done rubber is easier than taking the fight to them early…

No, and the idea’s moronic. Marquez is a professional motorcycle racer employed to win races. He went, he fought, he won. With the championship lead a mathematical impossibility for him at this point, a Machiavelli Marquez would’ve let Lorenzo have first place in order to maximise his points gain versus Rossi.

I sometimes wonder what an Indonesian riding her underbone 150 thinks about this sort of thing. Motorcycling as quasi-spiritualism seems to be primarily a Western phenomenon.
