That's the ideal way of voting, but unfortunately elections are spectator sports where voters are pressured to vote for candidates who are on the "right team," regardless of a candidate's competence, experience, or leadership. That is what elected a clueless, erratic, and easily confused fella to my local school board…

That's exactly what kills me about so many football know-it-alls. My ex-boss once lectured a seasoned, champion HS football coach on his errors after a game. This is the same guy who has never coached a goddamn team nor played in one.
