Jezebel and the legion of culture critics on the Internet are not in the business of providing practical solutions. They simply throw their rotten tomatoes and walk away.

Indeed.

Unfortunately, one of the Western Left's greatest weaknesses for the past few centuries is the proclivity for infighting and factionalism. It's a circular firing squad. When a leftist publicly takes a stance, there will be 10,000 fellow leftists tearing him or her down for not being "authentic" enough, and poisoning

To paraphrase a classic Mitch Hedberg bit: "I used to (be a lesbian). I still am and I used to too."

"We can't afford to shop at any store that has a philosophy."

I grew up in Placer County, one of California's reddest counties (it's even redder than the OC), and I was surrounded by young Republican women and teenage girls. They were Reaganites so most of their ideology boils down to money: more tax cuts, less government fees, and no more government spending on "wasteful"

I grew up in one of California's reddest counties where I was surrounded by young Republican women. Most of their ideology boils down to "Eh, just gimmie tax cuts."

That's the ideal way of voting, but unfortunately elections are spectator sports where voters are pressured to vote for candidates who are on the "right team," regardless of a candidate's competence, experience, or leadership. That is what elected a clueless, erratic, and easily confused fella to my local school board

Gotta love know-it-alls on sports radio who never played professionally or even a college sport.

That's exactly what kills me about so many football know-it-alls. My ex-boss once lectured a seasoned, champion HS football coach on his errors after a game. This is the same guy who has never coached a goddamn team nor played in one.

Well, it's a nice reminder of Beck's roots in the morning zoo:

Aw, the snakes think they're people.

Richard Kern? It feels like the "transgressive" Eighties again:

"...would we then see a rash of articles complaining about how these comics portray their respective communities?"

"Some background: feminism (noun):the advocacy of women's rights on the grounds of political, social, and economic equality to men."

All right: simple syrup, or a sugarcube mixed with a dash of water, or rock candy syrup.

Indeed, fancy bars or restaurants usually have a lot of overhead to cover, hence they charge high. There are a few bars here in Sacramento where you can get a Templeton OF for a few bucks less. OF is just whiskey on the rocks mixed with a little sugar, a dash of bitters, and a fruit garnish.

It's already been 20 years? Cripes, I remember watching the ET piece on "the upcoming talk show hosted by a Simpsons writer!" (cut to footage of Conan nervously nodding along to Radiohead rehearsing "Creep").

There are many alternatives:

Not bad, although I prefer the old, snarky safety video:
