He is, but damn do I love telling my flaming CJ-5 story!

My 1962 Willys CJ-5 caught on fire in 2004. Thankfully that was my last!

No doubt about it! Pretty nuts what they did. I’m super impressed with their experiments... most of the time. ;)

Ah, but you have to take into account the windage and pumping forces of air flowing over the tire. At that rotational speed they are substantial! 5 years of gas turbine design at GE taught me things about fluid interactions with rotating surfaces that really bend the laws of physics that we live with on a daily basis.

There’s no fixed “speed of sound”.

For being a decommissioned road, it is extraordinarily well known. I lived near it in Illinois for years, and met a lot of foreign tourists who cane to the US to buy a car and drive it. Heck, a friend of mine in California met his German wife that way!!

Happy Birthday Changli!!

Why did the cop let him drive for so long without lighting him up if he suspected drunk driving? Seems he should have pulled him over immediately.

It is depressing, but I know people who’s lives would be ruined with a $3000 repair bill for the vehicle they use to survive. I get why someone might react this way because their basic life needs are being put in danger. I’m not condoning it, but I can understand why the truck owner was so upset.

I heard great things about those Duratecs! My fuel mileage was down to 25 on the highway, but I wasn’t complaining with the mileage it had. I don’t know what they got when new.

Oh, you know the game? ;)

FORD RANGER! Seriously, I figured that would be at the top of the list here. The 4-cylinder Lima engine Ford Ranger is a beast. My 1997 manual trans had almost 400K miles on it when I sold it three years ago. I checked in with the buyer a few months back and he had sold it on to another owner.

Lol! Sorry, I blame it on my phone. Or Kinja. Yeah, I’ll blame it on Kinja.

You taking this personally?

Damn! I hadn’t heard of that.

You know there’s a difference.

Ye ole death wobble!

I know a lot of people who drive big trucks, and I don’t trust their skills with those trucks.

I totally agree. This roadway is problematic and unsafe for many drivers. If you miss the signs, the consequences are severe.

What happens in an accident? Are we to believe that a ton of cantilevered batteries will magically stay in place?
