Thanks. Luckily, I still have Limpy and GC. Limpy is a 83 944 set up for the track, and GC is a Euro 928s that LEGALLY passes smog in CA without catalytic converters! I got Limpy for $860 and drove him home. GC was $3800, and I drove her home too. That was two years ago, and I don’t think those purchase prices are

LOL! I meant lines.

Yep, you summed it up. I couldn’t fathom that it was gone when I walked to where I’d last parked it yesterday. I’ve “lost” my car numerous times street parking in San Francisco, but this time it is truly gone.

Good point on keeping other cars on the road. It’s tough seeing this one gone, but I’m not wild about it being recovered because I’m expecting it to be ruined, so I hope it goes to other cars getting new lives.

Well, they got me. RIP Stewart. Stolen off the streets in San Francisco at some point in the last few days. 1990 944S2 with an almost immaculate interior, freshly rebuilt engine by yours truly, new shocks, new vacuum tubes, all sorts of rebuild work under the hood including a timing belt and water pump. Ugh, what a

Oh hell yeah! Nice looking Jeep!

Let’s see a pic! I’ll try to attach a pic of mine. It’s post engine fire, so there’s a black stripe down the hood where I repainted the damaged paint. A buddy had just pulled my Jeep out of a hole, hence the reason for the row rope.

My 1962 Willys Jeep with 70HP, 5:38-1 gearing, 4WD Lo, and low 1st gear would crawl over anything. I didn’t need an auto, I just left it in manual and didn’t have to use the clutch much.

Congratulations! Now that you have so much room, you should consider that collection of mint condition mail Jeeps in Barstow I emailed you a pic of!

I dream of the day that the surrounding cops jump in and arrest an out-of-control officer like him for assault instead of piling up on the woman he assaulted.

Hot in Michigan, you say?

You’re jumping to conclusions.

We don’t know why he decided to abandon that car, but speculation goes both towards not knowing it would dry out and restart, and also giving up material wealth.

That’s a very ignorant and subjective statement.

Okay, where are your biochemistry credentials? Also, dude died alone. He didn’t drag anyone along with him be they fellow traveler or rescuer, so cool your jets. Those who followed did so because of Krakauer’s book, or other reading. Can’t blame the guy for doing something others got interested in.

Whoa, chill out. No need to get your panties in a bind because I have a different opinion than you.

I see this differently. McCandless did a great job at survival according to what I’ve read. What took him down was eating a perfectly healthy food that he did not know shuts down digestion in certain people. His guide book had no info on that, and nobody in the medical community (other than some doctors in WW2

Oh, thanks for explaining why the original Blog post was wrong. You just captured every salient point and racial issue clearly and concisely.
