It’d run much better with an airbox, and you’d get to that deathtrap speed much much faster. ;)

Nice bike. It looks like a pretty clean build from this angle, and I like your color choices. In fact, those are almost identical to the colors I used on a 1962 Willys CJ5 I restored years ago!
Take a look at the Steel Dragon airboxes. I don’t have any vested interest in the company, but I think they do a great job of providing a customized look while still maintaining good carb operating conditions. “Pod” if you feel like it, but the engine will never run right outside of idling at a standstill.
I don’t believe you. Also, what’s up with your ageist statement?
This phenomenon irks the hell out of me. Is there any data about stop sign runners? I’m curious what those numbers raise the “death by selfishness” statistic to.
Oh man, I just realized I posted to the wrong person on my first post. I meant that for smalleyxb122. Regardless, your responses were spot on.
Mine were all form and function! ;) My first build is my avatar pic. You can get by without the airbox on twins, but not on the 4-cylinder models.
This bike needs an airbox. Period! The carbs cannot be tuned evenly without a constant pressure for all of them to breath from. A builder that knows these bikes would have used a Steel Dragon airbox, or similar.
Volvo taillights, love em or hate em. I’m in the love em camp!
I don’t know if it’s all lost. The part I liked the most was hailing a ride from an app, and now we have Flywheel for that.
Who the fuck am I? Mr Complete Streets? Stop putting words in my mouth, and stop associating me with organizations just because you want me to be in them so that you can bash me.
“Not to make driving more miserable/impossible until the drivers eventually relent.”
...everywhere all the time.
Noe Valley. Parking is a nightmare, but my garage helps.
Blanket statements like this are usually incorrect (say I in a blanket statement). I lived in Sacramento, California for a while and a 3 lane downtown road was switched to two lanes with a bicycle lane on each side, accompanied by a 5mph decrease in speed. I drove my car and rode my bicycle along that street a lot and…
:) Just got another one running today, so your statement is now more correct than mine!
That stinks. My commute via public transit isn’t great either, which is why I primarily ride my bike. I tore an acl last year and drove to work every day using a handicapped placard to eliminate parking fees until I recovered rather than take the bus. Our public transit system needs improvement, but I don’t think Lyft…
You must be kidding me. You’re grasping at straws and making myriad silly assumptions.
Mac, your pedantry is top notch! Welcome out of the grays. ;)
What are you arguing about? I’m not saying to get rid of cars, or block off all the steeets to pedestrian only. Work on your reading comprehension. Wanting to get mad doesn’t mean the other person said whatever it is you want to get mad about
