If the plasma results in faster combustion, then the spark can happen closer to Top Dead Center. That will reduce some of the lost energy that goes into conpressing the burning mixture since spark can occur at greater than 20 degrees before TDC in conventional engines with conventional plugs.
You can always just tent your own house. A paltry $5k and bugs be gone! Seriously, if you’re interested, then let’s get in touch. No charge, and the garage is plenty big for most vehicles. BTW, there are rodent poisons that don’t allow decomposition. You’ll just end up with dessicated carcasses. Rat poison will kill…
If you’re near Sacramento I will be tenting my rental house shortly. It has a garage you’re welcome to park in.
I think you got it right. From what I remember of the conversation, the embossing was stated as only being for aesthetics. I’m not sure I believe that since Porsche seems to design for a reason and stiffening a valve cover makes more sense than just having a prettier place to paint “Porsche”.
Diego, try harder. FYI, this “boss” of mine was Dave Klym, owner of FabCar USA. If you’d done some research, then you’d know he knows Porsches. You might even discover that he has a history of building Indy Cars, and also built the first mid-engine 911 for a racing series. His statement about the failure of the valve…
I’d like to see more hill climbs. I’m in NM for vacation right now and saw old b&w photos of a short lived hill climb near los Alamos. The Pikes Peaks teams would come to NM to practice. NM has so many great roads I could see a hill climb scene developing here.
Thanks for your poorly thought out gut reaction. You must be onto something since you assumed all fasteners clamp through a gasket, and that harmonics are always fully dampened by a damper. I guess you never have to replace the shocks in your car either because even when they’re worn out they still have some damping,…
I remember my boss at FabCar USA talking about a damaging natural frequency being excited by the embossed “Porsche” on the valve cover of certain Porsches. Anyone know if that was a real thing? I couldn’t find any info after a quick Google search.
Great article, but you missed one extremely critical point!!! If you have all those aches and pains, bad knees, bad back, etc of old age, then go to PT. You can work through most or all of the pain, no matter how bad you feel now. I crushed my ankle just shy of amputation ten years ago, and just tore the ACL in that…
I can’t believe these numbers...they’re terrible! My 2006 Frontier Nismo got 13.8 over 1000 miles towing a double axle trailer over a 9900 foot pass (Sonora) with a total weight of ~4000 pounds including the trailer. I drove around in relatively hilly and off-road terrain for about 300 of those miles not including the…
I’ve got a line on a fastback and notchback in similar condition in SF. The fastback appeared to be a GT350. They belong to my prior shithead landlords. I can provide assistance in locating the cars, and even the shitty landlords if you feel the need to generate ashes.
Low cost and brand new engine? Check!
Is MB offering a 100k mile warranty with this engine?
Haters gonna hate. You upset their default assumptions and their brains are struggling to cope.
These, and their “riders” will be run over by cars. Be it on purpose or not.
Ever had to wait forever for new pilots to be found for your flight? It’s sometimes because of this exact scenario on a prior flight making pilots exceed their allowed daily cockpit times. Fifteen minutes of impatience can ruin a lot of days.
What is that? The Dodge Decapitator? The Chevrolet Cutthroat? The Ford Filleter?
You forgot about the 928 and 944! ;)
Get off your high horse.
