I have to wonder what percentage of the heavy tractor trailer market is being replaced with these trucks. With a 35000 pound towing capacity, they’ll be able to haul loads previously managed by semis.

Why would there be more blowby in a cold engine? I could see it maybe in the initial few seconds of startup if you have an aluminum piston with steel liners, but the piston has a tiny thermal mass and high surface exposure to the flame front.
Why not just start the car for 10-30 seconds and then turn it off? The pistons and liners would be fairly hot by then, and their heat would soak back into the oil and block. Then, after a few minutes, restart and drive away with oil that’s warmer than ambient.
Yes, but you’re not his lawyer. His lawyer probably saw a big sale, big-name seller, and big dollars! Then, very soberly advised the client, “As your lawyer I recommend... and lever a lawsuit to protect yourself”.
How much of that temperature cycling can they handle before failing? From what I saw, they were close to 2000F on the final test! Modern material science is just amazing.
My 2002 Jetta TDI would start at 6500’ with the glowplug harness disconnected in 15F temps. I never found the lower temp limit.
Porsche made these other cars often referred to as “water-cooled”. Some people may have heard of them. I think they’re cool.
Hells yes! My girlfriend has a 2010 Fit Sport with the flappy paddles, and that thing is a go-kart in tight twisties. Can only imagine what a manual would be like.
This bike woulda been HOT a few years ago at this price. Looks to be mostly there, and old Hondas usually just fire up with oil, gas, battery, and new points. The market has dropped significantly in the last few years, but still a fun retro ride.
Tire chains AND snow tires. Jeez, it’s like you don’t even read the comments any more. Jalopnik winter comments are to tire chains as early Huffington Post articles were to side boob.
Anyone got AAA? I think we got a flat.
Looks a lot like the intake system on my 928. The throttle plate is underneath, which you can see with the central plenum removed.
Yes! More articles about the awesome 928!
I see a lot of value in e-bikes, especially if you use it to haul loads and/or kids.
Apartheid? That didn’t work out well for co.za
Sorry to hear that. I’ve been hit a few times by Lyft and Uber drivers in the last year while riding my bicycle too. Every time it’s been someone merging quickly into me to drop off passengers in the bike lane.
Fair point.
Can confirm! You forgot a couple though: Uber driving, Lyft driving
I just had the joy of watching two people fly through the air like rag dolls a week ago. I had the best view of anyone at the scene of the accident, and it was a mess. One driver speeding and another driver turning left without yielding. The speeder turned hard and flew up on the sidewalk on the far right side of the…
So don’t do the brake flush and just keep driving. It’ll be another 15-50 years before you have to worry about rust buildup. Stay away from race tracks too.
