From what I read, he won’t necessarily be let out in 25 years - that is his first chance at parole. Given the grotesque nature of his crime, it is unlikely he will get parole then.

Sharks gotta eat, to, you know. You wouldn’t want to contribute to animal cruelty by having them starve to death, now would you?

Guess why they don’t...the settlers were only too happy to force survivors out of Iowa to Oklahoma.

Actually that WaPo poll was nonsense - they believed self-reporting when they called 1000 people who claimed “Native American”. They didn’t talk to many actual Natives.

Then they really ought to honor the Ft Laramie treaty of 1868 and return the Black Hills to the tribes. Treaty of Ruby Valley would return much of NV to the tribes there. Yeah, that’ll happen...

You’re right - Indians are treated badly in all the US. (At least living Indians - I’ve noticed many Americans have a contradictory attitude towards Indians - love and romanticize dead and fantasy Indians, loathe living ones). That said, however, some areas of the country are much more racist and nasty than others. ND

Except for the Dakota people there is this pesky thing called a ‘treaty’ - which grants the tribe certain rights even to ceded lands

Hell yes! Why isn’t the law interested in those ‘security’ goons who sicced dogs on people? (Watch the video - most especially that awful Ashley Nicole Welch going out of her way to attack people). Why doesn’t the law care about the company going out of its way to bulldoze burials and archaeological sites on a holiday

Spot on. I would add too how amenable a Native community is to having burials studied does vary a lot by culture, but also by how good of a relationship a community builds with particular archaeologists. It takes time to build a relationship and trust.

Native Americans have different views on the subject, and different cultural values. And considering these burials represent our relatives, we would appreciate a little respect.

What I find interesting is people reacting with horror to people saying “I wish he would suffer X”. Wishing him ill isn’t going to cause him harm - not one single bruise. I can’t help but think sometimes people are engaging in some form of magical thinking. Like, if we all hate him enough and say “I wish Jared Fogle

Congrats! My only advice is, if you are able hire a doula. They can be a great help!

That is beyond ridiculous. In my experience anyway, I could not have stopped pushing even if I had wanted to - all those muscles were contracting entirely on their own outside of my control. My nurses just told me to push with the contractions rather than work against them. But no way no how could I have stopped it. I

My doc let my husband catch the baby. I’m guessing not too many hospitals allow that...

More horrors for the children of FLDS: sexual abuse (of both genders) is very common. Warren Jeffs himself has raped boys, some as young as FIVE YEARS OLD! Sick, sick, sick stuff.

Thank goodness they gave you necessary treatment and no threats or bullying. Miscarriages are stressful enough without that horror thrown in! I recall reading in some article at the time that the doctor who initiated the investigation was/is some sort of rabid prolife nut. I think he was looking for a woman to torment

Oh god same thing happened to me (at 20 weeks along). Thankfully, living in CA, no one at the hospital hounded me or accused me of something untoward or anything. They gave me the necessary medical treatment, scheduled a D&C then sent me home afterwards. No weirdness about enforced burials, funereal what nots nor law

Not to mention years of Scilon brainwashing

I hope TX votes Cruz out in the 2018 Senate race. Please please please!

What I would like to know it, who is responsible for the rickroll in her speech? McIver? Melania? Rick Astley? Someone else?
