The whole slap was a stupid overreaction that has caused them more issues than it solved. The joke itself wasn’t even particularly offensive or insulting. All Will Smith did was call attention to something that 99.9% of the world didn’t see or had already forgotten about and opened him and Jada up to far greater

did Will Smith slapping Chris Rock actually make Jada’s life any easier? After all, that’s who this was for, right?”

Exactly.  Rather than her giving an eyeroll and moving on, having the spotlight shift from something she may not want discussed she now can’t turn anywhere with out it being a topic of discussion.  How

I generally don’t comment on other people’s appearance, even complimentary, for a reason. People are sensitive about it, and you never know what the reason might be behind an appearance. Who knows if the weight loss you noticed or whatever is a source of pride or a source of angst? A lot of people’s lives would have

Obviously, she should have spent more time shouting at the senators, and cry-talking about how she liked beers and working out with her friend Squee.  I mean - that’s how you get on the Supreme Court, isn’t it?

It’s not just mental illness (although that’s got to be a nightmare for everyone involved). Dude is a controlling abuser and that is probably exacerbated by his mental illness, but definitely not caused by it.

The man seems designed to be someone’s post-divorce fling. I bet she’s having a great time.

He doesn’t like his things to let go.

I wonder if his extreme “I can sleep around but I will control my separated wife’s life” misogyny is the same as it always was or was made worse by his sudden conversion to Evangelical Christianity.

Reading these comments and then reading the author’s twitter, and watching her lash out defensively while purposely missing the point - this has been the most entertainment that Jez has provided in a while

Totally agree. Unfinished! I wanted the author to say more about their marriage no longer fitting into their queerness. I think there are a lot of queer people in straight-presenting relationships (like me) who could have related and found interest in a thoughtfully written piece about the process of coming to that

Jezebel doesn’t have editors lol

I agree. The switch to the author’s personal narrative is abrupt and feels incomplete—possibly because the author themself hasn’t completely thought through the hows and whys of their relationship with their ex-husband and its decline.

This essay seems a bit short. While you make your dedication to the book and it’s effects on you fairly clear. You don’t really seem to give enough info on your relationship for it to seemingly merit mention in the title and it to not seem clickbaity. And you really don't give enough for the yourself seem sympathetic

Mostly to me it just feels slightly unfinished as a reflective essay. Like it really needs a couple more rounds of collaboration between the author and the editor to develop the personal narrative and really integrate it into the football story so that a broader, unified significance coalesces. There’s a lot of

Oh this should be interesting in the comments. This almost sounds like something from r/amitheasshole.

Is there any particular reason that you frame your husband as being some type of horrible villain, simply for having the audacity to (presumably) fall in love with you and ask you to marry him? Because he doesnt seem to have done anything wrong here, and there are a multitude of ways you could have told this story

When did these ladies find out Kim was coming to the restaurant?  Did the lady get her blowout just for Kim?  I kind of love them.

Let’s be crystal clear here: You white ladies aren’t making enough babies. And you had better produce a very specific kind of white baby. Good luck!

Right now there’s not much I can do. Grimes has a much bigger role than me.”

It’s a segment called “What’s Poppin” on his own talk show. For sure this is some kind of tin-foil wrapped cucumber situation - i.e. faked. His whole schtick these days seems to be predicated on this sense of fragile masculinity. The only alternative, based on the photos, is that he taped a segment rocking a full hard
