I totally understand. Other commenters have mentioned that it could be a symptom of trying to churn out the reviews too quickly.

I mostly agree, but he has probably the best acting scene in the entire show.

The problem is Maniac is something that you can watch and understand.  Watching it and trying to write exactly what it is about is hard which makes reviewing hard.  There is a anime that I’m a big fan of called Serial Experiments Lain.  I’ve watched it many times and understand what it is about.  Tell me to explain it

I’m confused by the reviewer’s confusion about this show. Almost every review, he mentions that he doesn’t know what kind of show this is trying to be. He can’t pin down the tone (comedy?) or its genre (drama?). I’m not sure why this matters. That fact that Maniac doesn’t adhere to a specific genre is part of its

“I’m sure lots of people will find Jonah Hill’s performance as the dumb, good-natured Snorri annoying”

Several of which are immediately addressed in the comments. Just...ugh. I didn’t come to this section to explain things that seem pretty obvious to the person getting paid to review the show.

....uh, the rubix cube glows when he’s solved the sections. How are you not seeing that?

I’d be more inclined to agree with you if she didn’t say things like, “You know I have the video and more. I am still trying to offer grace and a way out.” There’s no other way to read that statement than a threat to release the video if Ellison doesn’t withdraw from the race. I’m finding it hard to parse the specific

I don’t disbelieve her because of the public perception of Ellison. But I do find it troubling that she continues to say that she has video evidence to back her claims, but won’t show it to anyone. I can very easily understand not wanting to make the video public—the last thing she wants is to see her private pain on

(Not seen any episodes after this)

Wasn’t it more implied that GRTA could somehow trap people’s consciousness? It was less the thread of death and more keeping their consciousness trapped in endless fantasies (which also fits with the previous episode) - I assumed that’s what the McMurphys were (cos you know, still

Man, I’m all in on CA’s response to this. I mean, ya, they need the game to sell and all that, but I’m here for the “don’t like it, don’t play it” answer.

oh yeah because hollywood’s whole thing is listening to women.

Akiva Goldsman

Because he’s good?  This role didnt need an A-list heart-throb.  It needed someone we can feel bad for and pity.

I loved the Enchantress’s warning to her minions during her guest appearance on SHIELD about her: “the nine realms are littered with the bones of the enemies of Asgard who underestimated Sif”

You disingenuous, logorrheic trash commenter, you bring up twitter in this very thread: https://news.avclub.com/1829270085

You only mention Dan Neilan 6 comments in, including AFTER mentioning twitter, so, in fact, at no point did you ever make it “quite clear” you’re referring to Dan. Fuck off. You actively make this

The show only showed the GRTA malfunction at the end of episode 3, again several times in this episode, and then literally spelled it out to the audience by having Mantleray and Azumi discussing the fact GRTA must have hardware issues...

If you think twitter is “pRo LiBrUl” then you are shockingly out of touch with reality.

Cool cool cool
