I’d wager that the outrage was about the “porn” part of the joke. There would be no outrage if Davidson had said “hitman in an 80s straight-to-video movie” instead.

Keenan Thompson publicly said the joke “missed the mark” or something like that, so yeah, there was some pushback.

I sure hope he got to see at least some finished footage, if not early rough edits, of Captain Marvel and A4 before he passed.
