Not exactly on topic with OP but...
My original 3DS would not count my steps to accrue game coins UNLESS I put it in my pants pocket (near my hip). When I put it in my backpack or my coat pocket, the gyros did not pick up as many steps and I would have significantly fewer steps than I should for a common distance…
