Why not make the SIM cards not anonymous? Might not stop the crimes right away but I would think the thieves would get tired of being caught within a month or so.

I thought like Boomerang tracking systems the tracking device would be located in somewhere arbitrary and hidden.

@Helvetica: If the rumours are true and the bezel is smaller we could see the Home button disappear. I always felt a physical home button was reassuring. If the OS locked up clicking it always clears things up.
