though I guess I forgot about my earthquake insurance which when added in basically gets me to the California average and my personal liability policy, so I pay a little more than I thought, but still well worth the piece of mind at this point.

I pay about half of the California average for homeowners insurance, much less on health insurance, and slightly more on auto insurance. Not too bad overall!

You pay extra because the special plates usually go to some sort of pet cause. My whale tail plates cost $40 extra each year with the money going to the California Coastal Commission.

When I bought my 4Runner last year I was all set for 2.9% for 60 months, but the finance guy said I could get 2.74% if I did 66 months. So I ended up paying $50 less per month for what in the end will end up costing me about $100 to extend the loan 6 months than I normally would have. More than worth it for me.
