Part of the problem is that, even in this post that calls for ending the U.S. immigration system as we know it, we (collectively) seem to have a problem plainly talking out the motivations behind why our system is the way it is, and then what logical next steps there might be should we obliterate it.

00 is bad. Jeffrey Leonard is possibly the only person to make it vaguely acceptable. BUT...

It was a shitty sentence handed down to the product of a shitty family. Here’s hoping the county probation office that recommended the lenient sentence in this case gets more scrutiny and that this doesn’t have the consequence of giving certain judges permission to issue harsher sentences than they normally would.

1) In a world where Google Maps shows you how soon a bus is estimated to arrive, you shouldn’t be wasting much time waiting for public transit if you live in the Mission.

Not before Pacific Blue, goddammit.

Still amazed that Greg Schiano(!!!!) suggested the best idea, which is after a score or at the start of a half place the ball on the 30 yard line and call it 4th and 15 for the scoring team. They can punt, or they can go for it. It’s simple. It’s a football play and not some weird-ass new mechanic.

I liked the tweet linked above where the guy shared his real name and where he lives and it turns out his mom is a local politician.

Lowe made the point in his podcast with Howard Beck that the Rockets-Warriors series is demoralizing from an aesthetic point of view because A) the iso-heavy style is a goddamn slog, and B) 15 years ago the NBA made major rules changes specifically to discourage iso-heavy offense and now look where we are.

Waived bag fee and a $200 voucher?

How can you forget the name Mallex Smith? That’s either a baseball player name, or it’s a futuristic sci-fi hero’s name.

Thanks for this, Nick. As someone who’s spent a bunch of time in Kannapolis and knows a bunch of teachers in and around CLT, this rings true to what I’ve seen and what I’m hearing now. It’s another prime example people realizing that the “government spending” they wanted cut when it was abstract hurts like hell and

I mean, yeah, everyone thinks they know where he’s going, but Paul George would be PERFECT for the Sixers.

“I wish that I knew what I know now...”

Still convinced he’s shooting with the wrong hand. He finishes better with his right. And there’s evidence he’s working toward switching, eventually.

Reilly fucked up. He should have started a subscription newsletter with Andy Borowitz, which would have captured the full attention of every white person 50-99 years old.

Now playing

That’s good advice! But I’m not sure that’s what’s happening here. Someone with better understanding of kinesiology should probably chime in, but it looks to me like Stanton really IS swinging with mostly upper-body strength from a solid base. Yeah, his hips are into it, but not that much, and mainly because they have
