Pretty much. Sadly, Dredd is the type of movie that wouldn't have worked as well with a weaker rating. I usually don't believe ratings should make that much of a difference, but this is one of the situations where it does. I just wish R rated films did as well as they did back in the 80s

Yeah, it doesn't seem to hurt comedies as much, though many R rated comedies don't really make it either, though at least those were cheaper to produce.

I think the rating hurt it a lot. For some reason, most R rated action films just don't do well anymore. The only exception in recent years has been The Expendables, and even then the second one didn't do as well as they wanted. It probably didn't help that another R rated movie came out this weekend and did better.…

Yeah, I know how you feel. I understand why companies do it in some cases, but that doesn't mean I agree with it. Unfortunately, media licenses seem to have gotten ridiculously complicated in recent years.
