It’s not even busy work - they studiously avoid asking questions that could reveal anything about the purported topic of the investigation, but also go out of their way to try to discredit any witnesses who have information damaging to the Republican party or, at best, try to make those witnesses look bad. When this is all finally out in the open and we know what happened, there will be (metaphorical) dead bodies all over the floor. Also, it’s not the FBI or CIA that will reveal it all - it’s going to be a journalist. My money’s on NYTimes or WaPo and suspect/hope they’re collaborating on this.
