They don’t like him but they confirmed every one of his nominees, including ones with dubious ties to Russia. What makes you think they’d stand up to him? Has anything they’ve done over the past two months indicate any of them (except perhaps McCain and Graham) have a spine?

Yup. Putin appeals to the “white alpha male strong leader” that they admire in Trump. They see nothing wrong with aligning with a white powerful leader to take down brown people.

The problem is, isn’t anyone who has the power to give that deal a puppet of Trump’s? That’s what worries me.

Yeah that’s the whole problem here. Anyone who would be in the position to offer Flynn immunity is a puppet of Trump’s.

True! I do think if his support slips among Republicans, the House would turn on him no problem. The only reason they’re covering up for him now is because he’s popular with the base.

A lot of the Congressmen live in deep red states where 80% of the population is Republican. Trump currently has the support of 90% of Republicans. His base absolutely does matter for re-election for those Congressmen. If they piss off 90% of the base that reliably votes for them, how would they win re-election?

I’m giggling now at how Trump said he would surround himself with the “best, most loyal, most smartest people”. They’re all going to sing like song birds when they think they’re in danger themselves.

He still has a 90% approval rating among Republicans. If that ever falls to below 50, then I could see them starting impeachment proceedings. But his base is very cult like in refusing to ever see anything wrong with what he’s doing.

Or he dies in a mysterious “accident”.

I just don’t think that there will ever be outcry from the Republican base on the Russian scandal. Put simply, his base does not care even if he did collude with the Russians to throw the election. They think the DNC deserved to be hacked and exposed for its corruption and that Putin is a great leader. There will be

So far I see nothing that Ryan and McConnell have the spine to stand up to Trump. Hell, the Republican head of the supposedly bipartisan committee into the Trump-Russia connection Nunes is trying to throw the whole thing. We need to stop thinking the GOP cares about country over party like the Nixon GOP did. They’ll

I’m excited to see who flips next when all the rats start fleeing the sinking ship.

Yeah - what a lot of people don’t realize is that Trump’s supporters do. not. care. if he conspired with Russia to throw the election to him. They think Putin is great and that the DNC deserved to be hacked and its emails exposed. They will cling to him in their bubble of FOX news and Brietbart and continue to divert

If the FBI takes the deal, that’ll say to me that what Trump’s done is much, much worse.

He’s gotten a few people in American and the UK already. I wouldn’t be surprised if Flynn ends up mysteriously falling out a window or dying of a “heart attack”.

If Trump’s campaign actually did conspire with the Russians to throw the election for Trump, then the House would have to impeach him. This won’t happen in a Republican run House though, so the Dems need to GOTV in 2018 and have the Dems take back the House. I don’t think anything will happen until then. Nunes is

I had a male coworker I offered to carpool down to conference in another city with. We were the only two people from our office going and our office only paid 1/2 mileage if we didn’t carpool so it made sense. He told me that his wife didn’t allow him to be in the car with another woman. Um, so his wife thought I was

Agreed. That “when they go low we go high” doesn’t work when the other side is a bunch of craven sociopaths.
