Ah, I'm not old enough to remember a time before every single beginning piano student started playing it at recitals and for special music at church while everyone who wasn't a classical listener nodded in approval. I guess maybe I need to rethink my love for this movie for doing such an evil thing.

Ha, that's a good comparison. Unfortunately, "On the Nature of Daylight," the truly gorgeous piece used in the beginning and end of Arrival is possibly the next candidate. It had already been used in the likes of Stranger than Fiction and Shutter Island. Here's hoping no one else uses it.

Very common UK acronym: "for fuck's sake"

The Pachelbel's Canon usage IS terrible. That's one of the blandest pieces in the history of music, and I really wish they'd done something else.

I love Judd Hirsch so much in that movie. All of the scenes with him and Hutton have such a warm, cocoony sort of feel to them (I'm terrible at adjectives). Despite the rough subject matter, I have watched it several times and it usually improves my mood.

That picture scene makes my skin crawl every time. I've been in similar situations, and that brings it all crashing back. She really nailed that role. I've watched Ordinary People 5 or 6 times, and she is probably be the strongest part of it.

Agreed completely. I can't believe I was feeling bad for the guy/thinking he was the rational one during the weeks leading up to and following the election.

Stop being sexist, bernie-bro!!!1

I was confused by the internet's sudden retconning of Bryan Singer X-Men films, too. It seems like one of the epicenters is Birth Movies Death, where the former editor-in-chief announced the first two were awful cause of black spandex and corridors, gave a positive review to DOFP, then later posted articles about how

The main one was where the young mutants leave Return of the Jedi and say "part 3 of series are always the worst!!" Sick Brett Ratner burn!!!

This is just the kind of thing that makes me glad I intentionally avoid all interviews from any musician/band whose music I like. Occasionally I hear a story about them doing something cool, and then there's a sense of relief and I'll look up interviews (ie, Tori Amos), but by and large it can only bring them down.

Even Spring Breakers?

I would LOVE to see an expansion on how her performances in Arrival and Enchanted are so similar that only a "slight variation" separates them.

SHE'S mega humongous good in it, and the movie goes down the drain as soon as she leaves.

What else is a bald guy going to do? I guess he could go the Shatner route.

Yeah, cause there's so much similarity in her performances in Enchanted, Arrival, Nocturnal Animals, Junebug, and The Fighter.

I saw the thumbnail image with the guys with bandanas and was all set to tut-tut about "this is just lowering ourselves to their level," but then I watched the video and laughed my ass off. Bravo! I'd watch a show about this kid.

The Wailing is pretty great. Anyone with any interest in Asian horror and a Netflix account should make the two and a half hours for it. It's one of the best Korean films I've seen.

I liked it a lot, and I started laughing at the necrophilia scene. I think it's playfully disgusting and intentionally off-putting, especially in the last act. Seeing it with an audience where some people were clearly mortified somehow made it funnier. A lot of the content is meant to be over-the-top to the point

Whenever I am in a bad mood, I think of that sweet trombone solo that Lanky plays whenever you use the music pads in DK64. It's even better than the price is right losing music.
