I'm surprised Girl with all the Gifts isn't on this list. It got some mainstream rave reviews from the likes of Mark Kermode, and even the book was reviewed on this site.

One of the few times in my Wisconsin middle/high school career that I can remember anything political happening was when some virulent redneck with a blonde mohawk and pigface had a confederate flag on his truck for a couple days, and some guy on the track team took it off and just burned it in the middle of the

Agreed. For everyone that can weather the shitstorm of the ACA getting repealed and possible mass deportations, this will probably be a positive for us in a few years. Well, except for the irreversible environmental devastation. :(

Great post, unfortunately it will probably go unread as it doesn't correspond to the narrative in the comments on this site right now :P

What do you mean "anonymous"?

HEY! I did my part. It was pretty bizarre how short the voting lines were, even compared to the midterms in 2014. I was very worried when I got there at 7:30 and saw a couple pickup trucks with dogs in the back outside, and only a couple college students (I work in a town where the college is about 1/6 of the

You hear that? Expecting a site to use proper grammar or run their articles past an editor means you hate fun and are old.

Yeah, I've seen it. It was fine. The Orphanage affects me really deeply at the ending and I think it's like some kind of beautiful, depressing fairy-tale. It's good enough I'd probably put it in my top 5 or so horror movies. The Changeline was…good. It had a couple really effective horror scenes (the famous

Good call, I forgot about that guy. It was the skinny white guy WITHOUT the beard! Windows and Macready were both in the shot so I guess me and the other guy were equally wrong.

Not even close! It's a masterpiece compared to the likes of Vampires or Ghosts of Mars. I guess if you had a pure ranking it would be closer to the bottom, but in terms of ratings…it's a LOT better than his truly bad ones.

It's a ridiculous movie with laughably awesome scenes like Alice Cooper impaling someone with a bike, but damn if that news footage of the titular character fuzzily emerging isn't creepy every time they show it.

I heard that some cues from Hateful Eight were unused ones from The Thing, but I couldn't tell you which ones!

For a depressing "what could have been," check out the video on youtube of the demos of the practical effects created for the remake of The Thing. Some of them look INCREDIBLE. They were forced to scrap them and go full CGI by the higher-ups.

In the special features, they talk a lot about how they had to be really careful how they lit it and "gooed it up" because to show it with too much or the wrong light made it look terrible. It's surprising we could see it as well as we did, it just goes to show how great Rob Bottin was. The guy was only 23 at the

It was written by one of the producers:

It's hanging from the ceiling, though it's kind of hard to tell with the way they framed the shots of the blinking eye and the tongues-flower thing. It pulled itself up and was stuck there due to its size and not having the time to get all the way out. It's more obvious with the shot with the flamethrower.

I think THIS scene really does look bad, the body flapping around in the air looks like a dummy stuffed with straw. The dog scene and ESPECIALLY the Norris scene are totally beyond reproach, though. The latter is one of my favorite scenes of all time.

Man, I can't believe people still mistype things they don't like as insulting words to make fun of them. Well, besides the "Obummer" crowd.
