A heartfelt congrats to the AV Club reviewers and followers for again offering the best analysis and insights anywhere. Incredible finales for both Justified and Mad Men —- 2 of the best ever in my mind. Both these shows will live on way WAY past their conclusions —- Mad Men over the radar and Justified under it.

While I love every show you mentioned Nick, plus Deadwood —- I think that the under-rated Justified is just as good if not better than all of those. The characters, humor and dialogue are off-the charts consistently brilliant. The entire Season 6 on Justified is as good as any TV ever. Also, I thought the 10-part

Justified's conclusion, with Raylan and Boyd and "we dug coal together", was just so "right" and true to the series —- it was wonderful. One thing I loved about this show for 6 seasons was that I would think of dozens of possible outcomes in different situations —- then damned if the writers didn't always come up

thinklikea1l ….. if your brain was on the edge of a razor blade it would look exactly like a BB in the middle of a 4 lane highway

Check out Deadwood, I believe you will really enjoy it. I had to watch the first episode 3 times to get into it, but it was well worth it. Found it at the local public library and watched 1 episode a day. Watched many episodes more than once. Excellent dialogue and truly epic speeches. Personally I prefer the

Could not agree more with everything you posted here. The 10 part series of True Detective and Fargo are the next best thing to Justified in my mind. I thought The Bridge was damn good —- bit it was short lived. Happy hunting.

Boyd knows the difference between dynamite and road flares.

In true and brilliant Justified fashion it took Raylan 6 seasons to answer a question he had posed to Winona (and himself) at the end of Season 1 Episode 1. Right before Winona tells Raylan that he is truly the angriest man she has ever known, Raylan is telling her the history of the Tommy Bucks story. He states he

What a cool quirky Leonard type thing to do —— having Raylan wearing Boon's hat after the draw-down. Well he did tell Boon the hat was the only thing he liked about him back at the Pizza Portal. And Raylan would certainly not look so cool wearing his own white hat with a bullett hole in it. Glad they did not kill

make that "buy" of course

Is it possible that Hut McKean is the same guy Raylan spoke to in the woods and who told Raylan that he didn't remember his name. What a bittersweet night coming up. This is probably the only show I will ever by the boxed set entire collection of. Hope they end with Darrell Scott's "You'll Never Leave Harlan Alive".

Justified pop quiz. Where have you heard this song ?

Yes, all the more reason to admire Carl for trying to save Earl while at the same time not killing Boyd.

As they say in O' Brother, Markham put Carl in a "tight spot".

Great points you make. In season 1 alone he changes a few times. He kills the driver on Tates Creek bridge and shows zero remorse. Then after he is shot he tries to do the right thing. Then when his Dad executes his whole flock he becomes very hardened. What did Markham say ? hard as a pine nut ? Seems the

Yes for sure he is not a great singer, but he did write the song and sings it with so much conviction — I just love it. I am sure the Justified writers will end use that or something just as cool.

Not to overstate the obvious but how ironic is it that in this episode Raylan lays down his Marshal badge and goes off the grid, while Boyd dons a State Troopers uniform and flips on a hat? Brings to mind those wonderful conversations they had in past seasons about how similar they were despite being on opposite

True, except that the reason Carl held a gun to Boyd's head was that he set up Carl and Earl to begin with. Boyd talked him down but Carl was absolutely loyal to the point Boyd betrayed him.

Boyd. Wow. Kills Carl in cold blood after Carl spared his life. If Boyd had not lost his heart and soul by killing Dewey then he sure has now. Strange now to think that Boyd and Raylan teamed up in the 1st Bulletville scene. That Boyd probably saved Raylan's life at Dickie Bennett's hands (plus way back when in the

Boyd was out-of-this-world great in the mine scene. As the guy known for "Remember your ABCs. Always Be Cool" to show that level of absolute, all-encompassing terror and panic was just awesome. Boyd can handle about anything — except death in a coal mine, especially due to something he is an expert in — explosives.
