My mom’s wedding china is dishwasher safe, so it at least it is **less** of a hassle using it. However, she worries about scratch marks and that just seems like too much trouble, especially when smaller children (my cousins) are involved.

Do it! That child will thank you for it. My grandmother and Aunt got me savings bonds and they paid for my LSAT classes, plus airfare to Florida.

So true about the nice china stuff. My mom has nice china she got for her wedding and it only appears at thanksgiving and Christmas. So what is the point?

IMO, if you give a shower gift, you don’t have to give a wedding gift. My mom say she I am wrong, but IDGAF.

My friend works for the VA in DC and they need hundreds more employees in her department alone, but the hiring freeze and sequester have fucked everything up.
