Yup. One of my best friends has parents who were ridiculously overbearing and now it seems like she can’t do anything alone. She has never gone to the movies or a restaurant by herself. She would also rather do errands with other people. It can be tricky.

Some kids are like that though, I totally was. My parents weren’t strict by any means, but I had boundaries that I knew not to cross (meltdowns, tantrums, etc).

I was basically your kid. Growing up I was an only child and while the neighborhood had a lot of kids my age we did a lot of fun stuff, but sometimes I had to entertain myself. I sometimes think only children are better prepared to entertain themselves because the opportunity comes up more frequently.
