Probably 30% done, and when you get the horse contract/ticket/whatever it is you buy... you can get the same horse back if it dies, you just have to wait a little (if I'm remembering correctly)

Along with the Lego Creator game, there was at least a Lego Harry Potter game for the computer that was out well before the Traveler's Tale ones. In that you actually had to build things to use them... I can't remember what the name of it was called though :(

There is no way Dark Souls is easier than Demon's Souls. In Demon's Souls all you had to do was be even semi-decent with a bow and you were a god. In Dark Souls certain bosses will rape the crap out of you even if you know what you're doing.
