Unemployment thread- how are you guys feeling? I read the numbers, which are disheartening and get no call-backs. I’ve been volunteering in my community as budget allows, cooking, doing crafts, yelling at the NC GOP. How do you cope? 

Thank you for this. Here in NC, parts of the state are still recovering from Matthew. The big waterfront houses and tourist areas are getting along fine, but the poor/POC areas of Lumberton and Greenville still have a huge number of displaced people. Princeville, which should be a site valued along with Jamestown…

The Indian dishes are also good, and veg-friendly.

Also a Jez reader/commenter. The ‘5 Beckys’ post was great, and gave me pause when I saw more Becca in me than I realized. Yeah it stung at first, but I’m glad I read it and the comments.

Yeah, height is now fair game. As someone who has lurked Jez since the beginning, the quality of writing has dropped. Rich did interesting stuff for Gawker, and I was thrilled that he came to Jez. Now I usually skip his posts because of the heartless, “where’s my check” snark.

Very fair point. My annoyance is with the moneyed who expect the creative class to work for exposure, while carrying bags worth more than most people’s rent.

It was part of his artistic vision. Better lighting with that model.
