First off, these are hands down some of my favorite stories on Jalopnik I both loathe and enjoy when I am in similar situations, for example; I painted my first car in a weekend. Can someone point out the time in the video where the police drew their guns? I saw a wave from the policeman and then some conversation but I never saw a weapon drawn. The backup officer also stands with his hands on his belt the entire time never drawing a weapon.

I think it would be a fascinating Jalopnik piece if instead of restoring it to original condition you rebuild it with a goal of slaying GTI’s in autocross. I estimate that will cost approximately the same as purchasing a used GTI and putting all of the parts into your Yugo.

Worked with a guy in Kansas that would surf CL every day at lunch. Keywords were Buick, Oldsmobile, and 3800. If something came up he would immediately reach out to see if he could get a good price and he would drive halfway across the state to pick it up.

Yeah, it has basically had every problem these cars are “known for.” Leaked water, control arms were shot, headliner is falling down, vacuum system is crumbling, CV axles are blown, engine mounts are worn out and leaking, the PO hacked the wiring to hell (not the car’s fault). The list goes on.
