I think it could work, so long as you do the big reveal early in the movie, then show the characters growing and accepting being real heroes throughout the flick. Of course, they could just go the Suicide Squad route like some T-bolt iterations, and have them be government operatives on a short and very explosive

Look forward to the Russo’s directing the Thunderbolts movie.

But what about Blade though?

Since this comes from Abrams there’s a good chance absolutely none of the questions you ask will be answered, right? That’s what people more familiar with his work than I keep saying about him in these comments.

Great article. I loved the first episode of Black Lightning, but was interested in how you were going to compare and contrast it with Luke Cage. Really well done piece. One of your best, I think.

Am I the only one who thinks that the inner city principal side of the show is more interesting than the superhero side? Not to knock that, but I’ve seen way more stories about the latter and none about the former.

I love this show. So does my family. We’re about as white as the day is long.

The fuck show you watch?

I think you might just be wrong. It was extremely well done for a TV pilot. My only issue is with that ugly-ass costume.

Now playing

“Freeland’s school system, police force, and local media are all portrayed as consisting almost entirely of black people...”

I really liked the different cultural perspective. I also come from the midwest, but I get tired of everything being written from the same cultural perspective of some upper middle class dude living in a city on the east or west coasts. The key scene for me was when the guy was in the midst of pulling a gun on the

Am I the only person in the world that remembers M.A.N.T.I.S.?

His older music videos kinda make me hope that when he is done with Atlanta he goes on to do some sort of Sci-fy/horror show.

Except the premiere scored 0.8 for the CW, which was basically keeping all of the Flash lead-in audience. Even if it drops to half that number, it would still be one of the most watched CW shows and almost certainly renewed for S2.

I think what makes this successful, is in addition to the points you raise, the story is ACTUALLY GOOD. The acting is ACTUALLY GOOD. It makes it watchable. And if I’m watching, then I’m learning. Just wanted to toss that our there.

Brilliant article. Write a shorter version myself. I agree about the city, and BL’s connection to it. All the other shows, they protect their city, but it doesn’t feel like they live in it. Their apartments are in some safe zone, and other than their jobs, or their heroics you don’t see them interact with anyone or

The outfit needs an upgrade. Right now, need more episodes to decide if your title is true.

Psychics and “spell casters” are a hot item among spambots. Possibly because believing in them requires the same lack of guile as taking advice from an obvious spambot.

Yes, A New Hope is part of the deal. Once it is finalized Disney will own basically the entire Star Wars catalogue, giving hope that maybe one day (maybe) they’ll release the original trilogy (i.e. non-remastered) on some format more current than VHS

I, for one, am very happy about this. Maybe now we can get some good X-Men and Fantastic Four films. And... wait for it... Disney now owns Firefly and the original Star Wars film (legally clearing the way for an official de-specialized Star Wars set). Hulu’s technology will also be nothing but good news for the
