Cool, just making sure. It's a treat for fans, for sure.

Re: Twin Peaks: Are you talking about the recent Secret History book? If so, make sure you watch the series before reading that thing. It would be both far too spoiler-y, and some of the emotional beats toward the end won't resonate whatsoever without the series background. Just a head's up!

Nothing in the last 5 years has done "it" for me quite like I AM THE PRETTY THING… (except for perhaps STOKER). It scratched some Victorian Gothic itch that nothing else could, and it is one of my absolute favorite horror movies of the last many years. It's very slow, which probably turned off a ton of folkks, but

…y…you're right. I don't know why that comment was the straw that ganked the camel's back, and I have been awake for an abnormally long time, but I think this point sent me into a temporary existential crisis. It's so accurate it hurts.

This is the most haunting fucking thing I've ever read on here.

Like a true Sociopath: Sucking the life out of everyone around them. Trump will live until he's 120.

Something something "The Dickensian Aspect" episode of THE WIRE in the season about corruption/inefficacy of Ja Meed-jia.

Fits like a glove. My own misgivings about many diagnoses in the DSM notwithstanding, you can check off pretty much every symptom for both the DSM 4 and 5 with Trump. Probably true of many politicians, to be sure; but Trump is on a whole 'nother level.

Mine is a…weird comment, but:

My guess is he had a hand in fleshing out and clarifying the logic of the final battle.

"Inaugural Balls" is a great band name.

Yep, I have many childhood memories of staying up late and watching reruns of NIGHT COURT at 1, 2 in the morning. I didn't realize until this interview what a presence Larroquette was for me in those days. Dan Fielding was always the best character.

What a lovely interview, one of my favorites. It was nice seeing Beckett's TRILOGY get the love it deserves. One of the most profoundly spiritual reading experiences of my life.

Yeah that's what first occurred to me, too. Especially given things like the hit-piece Frontline did on him just recently. It's not surprising that he'd try and do this. I just pray to the sweet baby Jesus that this gutting of funds doesn't happen.

And liberty! And happiness pursuits!

A) Yes, it does. Did I imply that it didn't? I wasn't discussing the video specifically, more the general topic of Sanger as a person.
B) Ah, you're right, that's my bad. I misread that part of the Snopes article. Good to know. I'll go back and edit that in the previous post, because I don't want it to cloud the point

Right on, that was similar to my impression as well, I'm glad it's not just me. I just wish those historical assessments were more honest about it. I think one can defend Sanger and Planned Parenthood without downplaying the fucked-up-ness of her eugenic views, even if they were prevalent… which you're right, they

Yeah this is similar to my position on this fucking idiot. I'm not of the mind that the confirmation hearings have generally been a disaster for Trump and co., but holy hell does this person need to be kept as far away from education as possible. Terrifying. Watching this shit is painful.

Thank you very much for that link. It definitely helped clarify and inform Sanger's beliefs and role for me, and showcase the disingenuousness of right-wing attempts to slander/libel her. However, it does seem to me that this and the Snopes article conspicuously let Sanger off the hook for her actual, contextualized
