A day 1 patch is pretty standard nowadays, especially for games requiring an online connection. But you have to remember, this game went gold over a month ago. That is PLENTY of time to patch/update the game.

Every single major game these days has a day one patch. These are just more high profile because of the early leaks and major hype involved. This is no different in nature than games like The Witcher 3, Overwatch, etc. that all had Day 1 patches. I assume.
