I use sub and save for several items and Amazon always notifies me before a sub and save ships if the price changes so I can make adjustments if I need to. Did this not happen to you? Maybe this was an older experience before Amazon started doing this?

I just tried it with mine. The color and brightness ARE both preserved when unplugging it and plugging it back in - no interaction with the remote is required. Turning it off/on with the remote also preserves the color/brightness.
