As someone who has spent almost their entire life in the Detroit Metro Area, Detroiters fucking owns. But it’s so wildly specific to 80s and 90s Detroit culture (local ads, local personalities, local bars and restaurants, etc), I am not sure how it appeals to anyone else. But I’m damn glad it’s back for a second

I’d really love to see a detailed explanation of how this makes sense at all. I get there was a legally binding contract with this guy at one point, but then it apparently fell through and Gilliam had to obtain funding elsewhere. How does Branco end up with control of this over the people who actually financed it?

I enjoyed this show for being almost entirely self-aware of what it was. That’s a difference from your Doctors Phil, Oz, and Doctors that you just don’t find on TV anymore. When you tuned into Jerry Springer, you knew you were watching some weird Baudrillard simulacra/simulation of human life, sometimes clearly

Speed Racer is a fun, visually stunning film that tells a complete story and is designed to introduce children to anti-capitalist and and collectivist themes. It’s brilliant, and Speed’s reconciliation with his family at the end sometimes makes me cry.

Fuck, I just realized Keanu is the new Liam Neeson, and that makes me super sad because 1. He’s getting old, and 2. The ratio of actually interesting and challenging material he’ll take will sharply decrease. Say what you will about his range, but the dude had a diverse and interesting filmography up until the last

This guy’s career should have ended there. It’s a bummer to watch Speed Racer knowing that this dude and Matthew Fox are pieces of shit, even knowing that the Wachowskis and most of the rest of the cast are pretty moral people who have been active in causes.

Unfortunately, he supposedly fell out with them at some point when he was still drinking.  But yeah, that’d be way preferable.

Every one of these looks terrible, and I still don’t understand who the Murphy Brown reboot is for. It’s cool that the show is keeping its progressive streak, but those jokes are all pretty lame, no one really remembers the show, and the older folks that make up CBS’s audience who maybe do likely don’t match its

I’m weirdly pumped for Topher Grace’s entrance into the canon of character actors. It’s clearly where he’s belonged the entire time.

I watched that thing tonight. It was real weird! Not sure if I enjoyed it yet...

This is a fantastic discovery. Thank you!

My favorite thing about KB Toys was how they would somehow always have action figures from obscure toy lines that I thought had been discontinued for 10-15 years. I remember being a kid in the late 90s and always seeing original toys from early installments of the Robocop, Terminator, and Alien franchises whenever I

I watched this and it was pretty enjoyable. I’d watch a second one. It was only a tiny bit cheesy and super cheap looking as opposed to just all-out terrible.

I wonder if part of the problem is that he’s been working with start-up streaming services and fledgling networks not used to original programming, and they’re pushing him too far from full control?

I admittedly got a couple chuckles out of those videos, and I am pleased to learn he’s not in the continental US anymore, but it was much better when I had totally forgotten this guy existed.

Can we somehow get Homicide out of this deal as well?

Update was really strong while the rest of the episode was a complete flop. Rockwell is seemingly terrible at performing live, and I always saw him as more of a chameleon before tonight so it was also a bit of a bummer to see him thrown into a bunch of bits as a conservative or out of touch middle aged white dude

I noticed that Paul Lieberstein wasn’t in the credits yet, and yet, Adam Scott had a fresh haircut that made it look like this came after a shooting break. I’m still weird about the production order of this show, but if this was episode 9, I guess we’ve got at least one more episode to go before that writing/producing

These deals are mostly kind of bad, and the amazon appstore is still as underwhelming as it was when it launched however many years ago. Luckily it’s super easy to install the play store on newer kindle fires.

Yeah, the comics sales for both Marvel (where almost all of their trades are ridiculously discounted to between $2-$5) and DC (where most are $5) are the real deals here. I picked up all of Mark Waid’s Daredevil run, filled some holes in my collection, and picked up digital versions of some older physical trades that I
